Picking up music for the intro of ilithya.net was hard. It was a long decision making process, as I listen to many genres, bands and artists. I wanted to pick a song that fitted well with the short flash animation intro I designed in the first place. Industrial rock came to my mind.
Nine Inch Nails seemed to be a good choice for what I wanted to deliver. As I watched slowly, detail by detail, those colorful bars going up and down, “The Warning” from the album “Year Zero” [yep, that CD with the changing color feature] won my ears, eyes and mind. The beats of the song transported me to a place where I imagined to be when entering into ilithya.net. Don’t you agree with me?
Not that I wanted to give a warning or get political in this website (for those who had listened carefully to the lyrics). The song in fact, is one of my favorite NIN songs. Sad but true, I believe the lyrics accurately speak up of the cruel reality we all live in, even though I haven’t experience all of this in my own flesh.
Presently, NIN is a band that had been around for two decades. NIN started playing at the end of the 80’s with singer/songwriter and founder Trent Reznor, whom in my opinion, is one of the most talented musicians within the rock scene.
Reznor is to be admired. He’s part of the movement of generous musicians, who as a response to fan support, gives complete free access to some of NIN’s music material—available through direct download @nin.com.
This doesn’t mean [of course], that I believe we should stop supporting musicians by not buying their albums. In fact, the contrary. But is just nice to hear when an artist or band feels like sharing his music freely with his fans.
If you haven’t seen yet ilithya.net’s flash animation, as you might have stepped in this blog without entering through the front door or with your ears covered or simply you were distracted, go to myintro myart. See how you feel.
